USA 2016 – Florida and New York Day 13 – Hop On Hop Off Tour

After our inspired plans last night over drinks, we got up this morning to have breakfast and then hunt down somewhere to buy tickets for the bus tours around the city.

Max likes the busses, we’d never done it so it seemed like the thing to do.

We had a quick chat with the concierge and they suggest the City Tour company as they also have a hop on hop off ferry to that could get us to Brooklyn. Perfect.

We headed off to Ellen’s Stardust Diner, having first visited there about 6 years ago and wanted to take Max back. It’s a diner with out of acting work actors serving and singing through the day. Word must have spread as there was a queue to get in!!!

Having eaten there many times before we decided not to wait but to eat elsewhere and then get our bus tickets.

$158 dollars later we had them. That may seem expensive but it got us 2 days on the busses, the ferry trip, and entrance to One World Observatory which we plan to do tomorrow before we leave the city. It $5 cheaper if you buy them online at their website, but you then have to go to their visitor centre and exchange the voucher for tickets.

Open top bus + New York in November = Chilly

A couple of blocks walk saw us seated on the bus ready to go. Plan was to get off the bus at the World Trade Centre site, exchange the vouchers for a set time tomorrow and after a look around, hop back on to the ferry terminal a few stops later.

By 2.30 we were at Pier 11, which is where the ferry went from and we boarded at 3. The route the trip followed from this point was Pier 11, Statue of Liberty (you can’t get off here), Pier 78 level with Times Square, World Trade Centre, and Brooklyn.

We stayed on through all stops until Brooklyn. I would recommend this trip. You get to see the city from a different view, enjoying the skyline, the Bridges and the Statue of Liberty.

We hopped off at Brooklyn by which point it was almost dark and we were chilly and Hungry. We ate at a pizza plaza earlier called Julianas. Amazing. Best pizza we’ve ever had!

By this time it was 7pm, so we walked across Brooklyn Bridge, something we always do when in Manhattan, during which time Max fell asleep. It was then the subway up to Time Square, a 10 block walk and bed!!

A busy day but a fun one!!
